This Is Funny, You Should Watch It of the Day: As seen at tonight’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, the first (and only) official trailer for The President’s Speech — A King’s Speech spoof starring a teleprompter-less Obama, his buff-armed wife Michelle, and perennial Amtrak Passenger of the Year Joe Biden as the Big F*cking Deal.

Beware Of Dogs of the Day: Citizens of Tennessee: Please be on the lookout for a dog roaming the legislative plaza of the State Capitol building. He is reportedly huge, and partial to frightening representatives into making silly speeches on the House floor.
In related news, the infamous “Don’t Say Gay” bill, which would ban teachers from discussing homosexuality with students in grades K thru 8, cleared the Tennessee Senate’s Education Committee on its way to the Senate floor.

This Might Not End Well of the Day: France’s controversial ban on full-face veils went into effect on Monday, making the public wearing of burqas and niqabs subject to a fine of 150 euros ($217) and a citizenship course. Individuals charged with forcing women to wear full-face veils could receive a much larger fine and potential jail time.
A leaflet informing police how to implement the law said it did not apply to private homes, hotel rooms, private office spaces, car interiors, and mosques, and that officers could not remove a veil by force, but would only be allowed to warn law breakers that they could be brought to a police station.
According to reports, despite being home to Western Europe’s largest Muslim minority, France has only about 2,000 women who wear full-face veils on a regular basis, and critics believe President Nicolas Sarkozy is “play[ing] up the Muslim question because he is an unpopular president in need of an easy vote-winner.”
In related news, 59 people participating in a banned protest to protest the ban were arrested on Saturday by French police.
